Adobe’s recent announcement that Photoshop will henceforth only be available upon subscription to their Creative Cloud, has taken the photographic community by storm. Quickly after the announcement, people began to–rightfully–complain about Adobe’s new licensing model, making it virtually impossible to make a one-time investment into their software and forcing users to pay continuing subscription fees. In answer to the critique that the company received for this move, Adobe now released an official statement covering some of the complaints.We want to start off by reinforcing that we continue to believe that the move to Creative Cloud will benefit the wider creative community because of the constant stream of innovation that we’re able to deliver. For photographers, we are looking at potential offerings that recognize the photography community – because it is so broad – has some unique needs.We’re not entirely sure what to make of this, honestly. While the first paragraph sounds like Adobe is not going to back off from their decision to offer their high-end products on a subscription base only, the second paragraph sounds like there might be a solution coming for those who prefer a ‘classic’ software …
